Representative Cases

• Arena Football League Players Assn. v. Pigskin, LLC, U.S. C.D. Cal. Court Case No. CV08-06331 GHK (SHx)
  Mr. Hyun prevailed on a successful motion to dismiss a complaint seeking to vacate a labor arbitrator’s award.

• Bararsani v. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Company Class Action Settlement, Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 495767: On January 13, 2016, the Court granted final approval of class action settlement.  To see a copy of the Court’s Order, please click on this link.

• Barnes v. LRN Corp., Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 380467
  Mr. Hyun obtained a complete defense verdict in a jury trial against claims for retaliation and discrimination.  After prevailing, Mr. Hyun obtained an award of attorneys’ fees and costs against the plaintiff for $110,000.

• Basa v. WellPoint, Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 436539
  After taking over a case from another attorney, Mr. Hyun obtained an attorneys’ fees and cost award against the plaintiff for $57,000.

• Hodge v. Aon Insurance, Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 265725
  Mr. Hyun participated in the defense of a global insurance company in a wage and hour class action involving the alleged misclassification of claims adjusters as exempt employees.  In connection with the case, Mr. Hyun took over 15 depositions, researched and drafted summary judgment and class decertification papers.

• Leyton v. Russo, Cal. Ct. App. 2d Dist. Case No. B182894
  Mr. Hyun prevailed on a successful anti-SLAPP motion, which was affirmed by the Court of Appeal.

• Patino v. Carnival Corp., U.S. C.D. Cal. Court Case No. CV07-08016 R (JTLx)
  Mr. Hyun prevailed in the defense of an international cruise liner in a discrimination and retaliation case.  After successfully removing the case to federal court, he prevailed on a successful motion to dismiss several claims from the complaint.  Mr. Hyun then took the deposition of the plaintiff and drafted a successful motion for summary judgment, resulting in dismissal of the case, with prejudice.

• Rodriguez v. BP West Coast Products, Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 350736
  Mr. Hyun participated in the defense of a global gasoline station retailer in a wage and hour class action. Mr. Hyun took over 15 depositions in the case and assisted with researching and drafting several successful motions for summary adjudication.

• Strong v. WellPoint, Los Angeles Sup. Ct. Case No. BC 382405
  Mr. Hyun drafted successful summary judgment papers resulting in dismissal of all of the plaintiff’s claims, including a discrimination claim involving 54 promotional decisions.
